Hello, First Grade Families!
My name is Maribeth Countermine and this is my 17th year teaching at Voorheesville Elementary School and my 9th year teaching first grade. Before first grade, I spent 8 years teaching second grade. I graduated from Syracuse University with degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. While working my first few years at Voorheesville, I also worked towards my Master's Degree in Literacy at the University at Albany.
Becoming a teacher had been a passion of mine since I was a little kid; playing "school" and assigning "homework" to my younger sisters. Before graduating high school, I volunteered and worked in classrooms, making me more anxious to become a teacher and help children discover the joy of learning.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and sons, family, and friends. When I'm not spending time with my family, I love to read and exercise. I also love to cook and bake all of my family's Italian recipes!
